Boy do I miss Edo Sushi since I live in VA. I used to frequent this place on a weekly basis, and all the sushi chefs (is that what you call it?) knew me. I loved the freshness, the variety, and the size of their rolls. The gyoza and shumai were tasty, too. My favorite maki rolls were the spicy tuna roll, spicy scallop roll, and shrimp and cucumber. Ohhhh, if I could only have one of these places in NOVA or DC.

This was my boyfriend and I's second time going to Edo Sushi 2. We are big fans and were having that usual weekly hankering for sushi that just wouldn't quit! We went in for lunch on a Saturday and had very attentive service. I tried the Edo soup (seafood and black mushroom) and he had the Miso soup. Both YUMMY! We also tried the Wasabi dumplings, tasty and some heat packed into it. We had been discussing what are next adventure was going to be and SEA URCHIN is the only thing that we hadn't tried it....kinda wished that we didn't! Not that it didn't look right, but we weren't expecting the foamy-ness and cold and squishy. YEKKK! We shared a Chirashi sushi, Sakura maki and Domo maki rolls- all very good and very filling! We will definitely return :o)

In the three times I've visited this place, I have yet to be dissatisfied. I haven't been incredibly impressed, but the food has always been as advertised, and their fish seems to be very fresh. Edo's menu is your typical Sushi place fair. They've got a daily bento box special for ~$11, and it's tons of food and a good value. Will visit again.

I live in Washington, DC, home to some pretty good sushi places (shout out to Sushi Taro), and I believe food wise, Edo Sushi in Owings Mills, MD is AAA fantastic. The california rolls are yummy and they have great lunch specials. It can get a little pricey if you go at other times though, and its location isn't great if you're in either the DC metro area or the Baltimore metro area, but management is great and service is good as well. This truly compares to Sushi Taro (food wise) and Nooshi in DC.

Visited this restaurant last night when I received an invitation from my best friend "Alice Wong" for dinner and it wasn't too far from work. The decor and interior design of the restaurant was exquisite and very elaborate and though it didn't have the sliding doors or floor matted surface where you would need to take off your shoes or anything but I find my dining atmosphere very comfortable. In addition, the restroom facility was very clean and organized. The service was great as I was immediately greeted upon sitting down since a member of our dining party was already there waiting at our table. Our waiter "Esau", dressed in a traditional Japanese kimono-like uniform was Hispanic, but don't let him fool you because upon learning that we were Chinese, he also spoke a few Mandarin and Cantonese to us. Not to mention he always came back to check to see if we wanted anything (tea, drinks, or more food)--absolutely a sociable fella. We ordered a bowl of fried tofu half immersed in sweet soy sauce as well as tuna sashimi over bed of lettuce along with several special maki rolls. Although I didn't have the tuna sashimi but the tofu was a delight and all the rolls brought to our table looked fresh and tasted delicious. Among the maki rolls ordered, I really enjoyed the Chesapeake Roll and Black Dragon Roll. Our dinner was finished off with a fried ice cream to share and it tasted fabulous. The only thing where I mark off a star on was pricing since the maki rolls and most dinner entrees were $12.95 - $14.95. Appetizer items started at $6.95. With our party of five people, each of us had to fork out $30 with an eight-dish meal to cover the bill and tip. Don't get me wrong, I didn't leave the door feeling hungry but was not as full as I have hoped for and have been to other Japanese restaurants where the rolls were a bit cheaper. However, each roll made was top-notch. Regardless, this is not a bargain dinner deal but was a little above fair in terms of pricing. Nonetheless, if you really love the place, you can always show your appreciation to the owner or the service workers there by hitting the pair of drums sitting one on top of another on the shelves inside the entrance doorway. =)

I'm not a huge sushi guy, but this place turned me around. Tasty, beautiful sushi, great prices and a friendly atmosphere. Bring your own alcohol if you feel the need, but I'll stick with the marble soda cause I think its fun!

This is the BEST sushi in town, hands down. We order carry out from here very regularly, almost weekly. Everything we have ever gotten from Edo has been fresh, which is more than I can say for other sushi restaurants in the area. Staff is very friendly and prices are not unreasonable, especially for the consistently excellent quality.

Lovely staff. They greet you right away and the service is excellent. Food is very good. All of their specialty rolls are delicious. The enviorment is quiet and romantic and food is great.

My favorite sushi spot in Baltimore County. I admit, the first time I went here, I didn't really know how the "ordering" process went, and we sat at our table for about 15 minutes before figuring out that we needed to write our order down on a paper. LOL A cute, clean spot.

When we lived in Owings Mills, we would get sushi from here once a week. Great prices, large pieces, frindly people, and full of flavor. I miss Edo Sushi!

I love this place! From the ambiance to the service...its a 10. The food is so good, and i live over 25 miles away, but I still make the visit once a week!

This is my husband's and mine staple for sushi outtings here in Owings Mills. We recently tried a different sushi place that also received good reviews and the entire time there we kept saying to ourselves "We should have just gone to Edo Sushi." The rolls here are delicious. They might seem a little pricey which is why I'm taking off a star but the atmosphere, staff, and excellent service are big reasons why we keep coming back.

This is my favorite Sushi spot the portions are big and its very affordable. The staff is very nice and helpful with picking pieces for newbies I was there once. I recommend the Volcano Rolls the sauce is hot but no to spicy and youget 6 pretty big rolls for 8 bucks. The only down side no Sake at this place but I here you can go around to Edo Mae if you want a drink.

We moved from the city to the county and Edo was the closest thing to Matsuri's (4.5/5). Sushi is fresh with larger pieces. Recently introduced daily bento boxes. Quality for price is excellent. Love the shrimp tempura rolls, dragon, spicy salmon, and scallop rolls. Wait staff considerate of pregnant customers and children. Fast service as well.

You wouldn't know it from driving by this strip mall in the middle of nowhere-suburbs land, but Edo Sushi, sandwiched in between a chinese carryout and a Safeway is AMAZING. When can we get one in DC? Points for presentation. My sushi came out on a LEAF. Yes, a leaf. and my california roll was stacked in a rather aesthetically pleasing pyramid. If that's what they do with something as pedestrian as a california roll, you really should see some of their other rolls. I ordered the california and another specialty roll on the side. This thing was so huge , the sushi roll had its own sushi roll on top of it. It had salmon, avocado, and crunchies in the middle, then the rice and seaweed, THEN seaweed salad layered on top, THEN another piece of salmon sashimi on top. All in one bite. I had a bit of trouble getting that all in - you should have seen me struggling with the chopsticks , desperately trying to balance seaweed and salmon, but the end result was delicious. There were plenty of other very creative rolls on the menu - including one roll in the shape of a heart with tuna around it - so I will have to go back to try! The decor of the restaurant features lots of light-colored paneling and nifty japanese objects. The service also matches up to some of the better sushi restaurants I've been to as they give you a hot towel before your meal. It really takes you out of the burbs and into the sushi. Can I kidnap their head chef and bring him back to DC with me?

Always been a big fan of Edo Sushi. They are very polite, the food is reasonably priced delicious and they give you the hot towels still before your meal. The shumai is delicious as well!

Good sushi. My advice: get it to go. I've been here plenty of times over the course of a few years. Dining in and taking out. I had an experience yesterday that I figured I'd share with my fellow Yelpers. There were 3 of us. One of which was getting sushi to go. I asked to put it all on one tab so I could pay... service was great. The sushi was great. Everything was fine until I went to pay. The total came to $88 for a total of 5 specialty maki rolls. We decided to split up the tip a bit, so I put only $4 on my card and we planned to leave more in cash on the table. The waitress picked up the credit card receipt fairly quickly, looked at it and only saw a $4 tip and decided to question us about it. Not only did I find it awkward that she questioned us in a strange manner, I found it odd that she would do such a thing while we're counting out cash in plain sight to leave on the table. We left another $9 or $10 on the table and left. I understand this could have been just a problem with one waiter/waitress and it has nothing to do with the food, but regardless it makes me not want to eat in ever again at this place. I don't care if you've had others leave you small tips in the past... you should never confront the customer about such a thing. Especially when we're obviously going to leave additional cash on the table -- if I really wanted to be an asshole, I would have said forget the additional cash and left. I hope the person responsible reads this and adjusts their attitude. Yes, I would eat here again... but only via take-out.

I used to come here regularly back when I was in high school and occasionally through college. After I graduated I moved away to NY and I can still say that this is one of the better sushi places. The spicy mussels are AMAZING. I can not come here without getting an order of that. The sushi itself is always fresh and the staff is nice. I do remember having an awkward experience once with the waitress after giving her a tip that I thought was decent but she thought otherwise. Regardless I would definitely recommend this place to others!

The best sushi" lunch special"value in the Baltimore metro area .....BAR NONE! & brown rice option!

  • Lauren G.

I was not impressed. Granted, I'm noticing my 'wow'ing standards are getting high. But even if I lived in this area, this place would be a second or even third choice. I had to send back my spicy scallop roll. It was incredibly fishy. I was refunded and have no hard feelings. I was just not impressed with anything I ordered.

  • Jen G.

Fantastic sushi! I just moved back to the area after 10 years away and I was suspicious of a sushi place in a strip mall, but wow! I've been back 3 times already. The hamachi absolutely melts in your mouth and the unagi is some of the best I've had (perfect amount of sauce). I was very pleasantly surprised by the bento boxes, too. Additionally, the waitstaff is wonderful. Very friendly, very attentive. The price is about average for a decent sushi restaurant.

  • Peter D.

I got the lunch special. $9. Two rolls. Miso Soup. Avocado Salmon roll and sweet potato roll. Both rolls were excellent. My only complaint was the hot tea at $2 was a little pricey. I will go again.

Great lunch specials for a good price (Two rolls, miso soup/salad for $9). Service was good and the sushi was delicious!

Really nice and clean establishment....Sushi is made quick, fast and right in front of you. Their sushi is always fresh :-) I went their yesterday for the third time and obviously it was the charm because I don't recall their sushi being that good!! A friend and I ordered a hefty medley of California rolls, shrimp tempura and spicy tuna. I don't eat raw tuna but my friend said it was ok...shes had better WILL DEF Get the California and oooo so yummy shrimp tempura roll again!! *will post pics next time*

I had been eager to try this place, but often kept going past to get to where I needed to go. So when my best friend suggested we grab a bite there - my excitement was boiling over (really?! I wasn't that excited, I was just in the mood for sushi!). Very cute restaurant! Customer service was great. My best friend ordered a tempura appetizer, which was very tasty. I ordered the Philadelphia roll and the Harbor roll - both very yum!!! My best friend (I feel much better about that now) ordered a roll that had lobster tails (I can't remember the name of it), but that thing was huge and lovely (well done on presentation!) and delicious! And if you're feeling into it, there's a little drum for good luck that my best friend and I tapped on our way out.

  • Gwen I.

I've only done take out but the ambiance of the place is nice. It hasn't been too crowded whenever I went in. The staff and the sushi chefs are welcoming. The sushi (I only get the vegetarian rolls) is good, especially the mushroom roll. I've tried some of their side dishes as well and they have been good. Great little place!

Wow. I love this restaurant. Usually I'm taking to go orders and everything is perfect. I love their food, I love everybody who work over there. All of staff are kind and always super friendly. I'm really happy that I found this place, now coming here is almost like some small holiday.

I was in Maryland and had a great day of success for our work. Let's get sushi yet where oh where in Owings Mills, MD ? Well let me tell you it ain't Edo Sushi II !!! I not being able to choose my sashimi type in the combo box was overwhelming. The staff and manager do not care about making a customer happy or satisfied. Besides this I ordered a Spicy Tuna a Sashimi Nigiri Lunch Special and my coworker ordered a Bento box and some type of roll. So let's start with hers now if you are thinking of coming here and bringing a Non Sushi eating friend I would say don't. My friends Chicken teriyaki was Dry Rubbery and Chewy. Literally my Mandible Popped trying to eat it. It was disgusting and the Noodles they put on the Chicken Lunch special are entirely over cooked. I being a Korean eating various Asian foods my whole life knew from first bite these were cooked improperly. Mushy and disgusting. Needless to say she couldn't eat her chicken lunch special. She ate the edimame and rice. Now let's get to mine these men are by NO MEANS SUSHI CHEFS !!! They do not even know how to properly cut Sashimi or Nigiri. You see there is a fine art to this where the chef is so skilled fish will melt in your mouth. I had thick hunks of stringy nasty fish. There was no art nor skill to any of it and it completely ruined me for the day. Their California Roll is not a California roll. All they did was shred imitation crab roll it with Avocados and Cucumbers and lied saying it was a California roll. It was flavorless grossness. The Sashimi I spit out it was so tough and chewy. They didn't ask us what was wrong or anything we paid them and left. This place is kinda cute but not an Authentic Sushi Restaurant. Once again if you are a Fine Sushi eater a picky sushi eater? This is NOT the place for you. We HATED it

I've only been to this restaurant once after work for an early dinner with co-workers. The interior is very nice and clean, and the customer service was very good (they provided warm/wet towels before and after the meal). The sushi was not bad, but it wasn't great either. I would be willing to try other dishes as the chicken teriyaki served on a hot plate ordered by a co-worker looked amazing. The miso was very good with a lot of seaweed and tofu, just a little too salty.

Great service, food, atmosphere. I eat here at least once a month or get take out and am never ever disappointed. Love their sushi specials and the gyoza are addicting. I recommend this place to lots of friends and coworkers. Love it!

There is another Edo Mae like 1 mile away near Outback. Same owners. Makes zero sense, but go to this one And, if you sit at the bar, the older Japanese guy on the right is the one you want making your sushi. Hands down it's the best sushi in NW balto/Owings Mills. It's probaby the best in Balto. Joss' may be better, but it's close. The place Zagat rates so highly in Columbia sucks in my opinion. No way is it better that this place And i don't know about you, but i am pretty sick and tired of all these crazy rolls. They are pretty straight forward and will have specials They have the best Volcano roll i have ever had Also, the Wasabi Shumai will light up your sinuses Great place 5 stars

  • Nichole Y.

The staff here was friendly but the food was mediocre. The specialty rolls were overpriced for the quality. The other rolls we got were just ok but nothing to rave about. It may be the best sushi in the area but I may just venture out of the area instead of hitting this spot again. If you're looking for some alright sushi in a pinch then hit it up for one of the bento box specials. Otherwise, just steer clear of sushi in the area.

  • Mike F.

Fantastic Sushi and phenomenal service. Water glass always full, very kind and friendly. Can't wait to go back. The spicy scallop roll was super delicious and the shrimp tempura roll was out of this world. The rice soup could have had more flavor but add some soy sauce, you got something awesome!! Worth every penny!!!

My friend brought me here since I pretty much exclusively eat California rolls and he decided it was time to broaden my horizons a bit. Between the two of us, we got two California rolls (in case I really didn't like anything), the soft shell crab roll (cucumber, roe, scallion), the rock n' roll (cucumber, eel, avocado on top) and a special mango roll (can't remember what was in this, besides, obviously mango, and black sushi rice). Everything was really good, and came out nicely plated. The California rolls were as expected. The soft shell crab roll was AMAZING, I've seriously been craving this every day since I ate here like 2 weeks ago. The rock n' roll was good, but there was some flavor that bothered me... although this still didn't stop me from eating it. The mango roll was good, but it was just kind of a mess to eat... almost impossible with chopsticks, and I even struggled to get it on a fork (since my hands find it impossible to use chopsticks... which the waiter didn't judge me for and I appreciated) but it was a really intense and good combination of flavors. Definitely want to go back, and soon!

BEST SUSHI!! I have been going to Edo's for a few years now and it has NEVER disappointed. Its always fresh, fast and tasty! The decor is great and it has a very relaxing atmosphere. Everyone from the hostess to the sushi chefs are nice and friendly and make you feel completely comfortable! Some people may think the prices are a little high, but considering youre eating raw fish, I dont mind paying a little extra if that means everything will remain fresh and clean! Oh! and you have to have their spicy mayo, its the best!

  • Amanda I.

Great place for sushi! Good food and an even better staff. The place is very clean and natural. If you're looking for cheap sushi, don't come here. If you're looking for GREAT sushi at reasonable prices - this is your spot. TIP: don't forget to bang the drum for luck on the way out!

So where does one go to eat when in Owings Mills.... you wouldn't think Sushi would you? Well this place is good for it's location. It's not the best sushi I've ever had but it's completely acceptable. The staff is pretty nice, at least to the customers... When I went I ordered a Chirashi, a dish that I order the first time I go to most Sushi places to get an apples to apples comparison. I'm allergic to shellfish so I made sure they knew, but it came out with shellfish anyhow and had to be sent back.... an argument ensued between the chef and the server which made me feel a little uncomfortable... But when she came back to deliver the newly made dish, she laughed it off and was a good sport. The fish was the right temperature, didn't smell at all and was bright and colorful. All important factors to me... I was a little disappointed that they didn't want to replace the shellfish with anything else for me and yet still charge me the same price... but after I asked about it, they took care of it. The presentation was ok, not in the typical bowl or box that you might get at other places, but it sufficed. Believe it or not the highlight of the dinner was the salad, they used a really nice ginger dressing that I had not tasted before... It was very delicious. I'd go back to Edo, but probably because there's no other options in Owings Mills, not because it's best sushi ever. So if in OM, give Edo a try, they were busy and clearly its the best in the area...

I used to love this place. LOVE it. I was loyal to Edo Sushi 2. It was literally the only sushi place I would take my family. As such, our faces became recognizable to the staff which makes the following incident even more incomprehensible to me. One afternoon, I stopped in with my oldest and my youngest as I normally would. My youngest was at the time was about 3.5-4. She was having a particularly clumsy day as any parent knows happens. Heck it happens to me and I'm 37. I think she may have been shaky from hunger. Anyway my daughter dropped her fork and the waitress promptly brought her another. The owner (or he may be the manager but he's ALWAYS there) was standing close to our table and witnessed my daughter drop her fork. So a few minutes pass and my daughter accidentally drops her fork again. The owner picks it up and brings her another one and says right in her face, "Drop it again and you don't get anymore." Uh what? Not that being upset to a child dropping a fork (and she dropped it, she's not the type of kid who would intentionally do such a thing ESPECIALLY WHEN HUNGRY) is ever, ever an appropriate response but to direct your anger at a 3 or 4 year old for clumsiness is totally unacceptable. If you have a problem, address the parent. I thought that was just so cruel. We've never been back. So if you have a little one, avoid the place like the plague.

While not my first Japanese cuisine experience ever, this was the first place in Maryland that I'd gone to. And they've always had some pretty friendly service. I always find myself busy looking around at the walls and the decorative fans and swords they would have on display. And honestly, I can't help but hit the drum on the way in or out every time I go there. :) But they encourage it via the sign next to it, so hey! I know there are a ton of things that could be served here...but honestly, I love coming here just for the shumai. I absolutely love their shumai. And there's something amazingly addictive about the sauce that comes with it. It's definitely better than half the Japanese restaurants I've gone to. And I mean good to the point that my friend and I would occasionally eat there, have the shumai, and talk about it randomly throughout the rest of our time together for that particular day. However, I also recommend salmon teriyaki. If you're good with eating fish (hey, it's not even raw, so no salmonella excuses, buster!), then this should make you smile.

I had reallllly high hopes for this place after reading stellar reviews and getting recommendations from friends but honestly the sushi was just okay and kind of expensive for just okay. I only got maki rolls this time, philadelphia, spicy tuna and I tried the Volcano roll which was kind of mushy. The miso soup is wonderful however, and the fish was fresh the flavors just weren't there. The service was fantastic, everyone was so friendly and happy. All in all it wasn't bad just wasn't as good as everyone's making it out to be.

Decent. Not the best sushi in the world but good enough that I will come back often. Get the bento box specials. They're an incredible value for all the food you get.

Quite good. I am usually with my husband who has posterior cortical atrophy and can, therefore, find certain things (eg chopsticks) a challenge. The server at Edo caught on more quickly than I've ever seen and promptly brought a fork and knife. I will know better than to order him a bento box next time, as I had to stop him from eating edamame, pod and all, five times before shelling them myself. Nonetheless, loved the food (especially miso soup and dragon rolls.)

Got the lunch special for fish friday - basic tuna and salmon roll & miso soup. The soup was a good, solid and flavorful. The fish was very fresh but I wasn't overwhelmed or anything like that. Id say this is a decent place for a casual lunch or dinner, and having gone to dinner here plenty of times, I can say the food is always consistently good & fresh. Id recommend sticking with the special rolls when you eat in. Am a big fan of the soft shell crab roll from here as well
